Something near and dear to my heart

At the beginning of February, I will be joining thousands of other people in celebrating Feeding Tube Awareness Week. The purpose of this event is to educate the public about what feeding tubes are, what they're for, why people have them, and what life with a feeding tube is like. There will be more information coming in the next few weeks leading up to FTA week and I'm excited to share some of the things we've learned.
I think the hope here is that with education and awareness, the negative stigma and awkward stares will decrease and more people will understand what a powerful tool feeding tubes can be. For us, a feeding tube has been a lifeline. Without it, Raya would have starved to death, and I'm not exaggerating or being dramatic about that. If you don't eat, you starve, and she didn't eat.
We have been SO very blessed to have such supportive friends and family and we hope that sharing more information will help people to be better equipped to support friends & family members who may be going through similar things.
Well anyway, just wanted to put this out there, so watch for more in the next month about Feeding Tube Awareness Week!
